An Introduction to Smooth

While engaged in ministry work in the north of Mexico I was privileged to witness many miracles. These miracles included the actual speaking in tongues, not just a prayer language. The speaking of actual languages that the person has no earthly ability to know or understand, with another person translating what was said. An example, I witnessed a teenage girl who lived in an illegal barrio, meaning that she lived in an extremely financially suppressed community. She, as with all the other children, had no shoes and wore basically rags for clothing. She could not read or write because she had never been to school because there wasn’t a school in this area. She spoke Spanish, and not very well at that. There was an adult with her that translated her Spanish into Spanish that the community spoke. While she gave her testimony, I heard her speaking clear English without slang. There was a German couple standing next to me, they commented that she spoke perfect German as well.

The meeting stopped at that point so questions could be asked. The girl said that she just told her story, the adult interpreter said that she spoke the way she had always spoken. I obviously said I heard perfect English and most of the ministry team did as well. Our group was predominately from Maryland, but we also had a couple from Germany, 4 from Columbia, and another couple from Puerto Rico. The German couple said they had heard perfect German, and all but a couple of the ministry team, that were native Spanish speakers, said they heard perfect Spanish. We determined we had experienced a miracle. The teenage girl, dozens that were in attendance, and the rest of the ministry team (those that only heard the interpreter) accepted the Lord that day and the rest of the meeting became actual praise and worship to the point that our musicians and singers stopped what they were doing and joined a level of worship I had not seen previously, nor have I seen it since.

I tell that story because for more than 20 years I have been trying to re-create that experience with limited success. The more attempts I have made, the closer I get. Here are a couple of the things I have learned on this journey. First, there is only so much a person can do, in their own strength, to further their understanding. Second, there is at least a partial formula to make miracles more common. Please understand, THIS IS NOT A BIBLE STUDY! Though I will use the Bible as the primary source material, there will be concepts that are not found in what is known today as The Holy Bible.

I pray that you will be able to take away from this writing something that improves your walk with God, intensifies the level of praise you have for God, and deepens your worship to the point you witness miracles more often and with greater impact. I wish to witness a day when true faith healing happens at all levels of human existence. I want to see water into wine, eyesight restored, limbs regrown, and yes, even people brought back from the dead! I want miracles that are even greater than the ones Jesus performed because that is what He promised me!

I hope you enjoy this walk.
